Paramedic placement: survived!

My first placement really wasn't anything to be afraid of. Over the two days I was only called out to two jobs, one each day. The paramedics I worked with were great teachers and took great care of me. The Ocean Grove Griffins were very generous to have me lodge with them and were very relaxed and welcoming hosts. I was upset that I missed Carlton thrashing Collingwood at the MCG on Friday  night to make the trek down the Bellarine Peninsula. I was so thrilled with the win, but couldn't help but think as I watched it on TV that it would have been so much sweeter to be there.

I have now had my licence for 3 weeks so I will admit to being pretty proud of getting myself around all weekend, (300kms+ of driving!). It wasn't smooth sailing. I got lost in Geelong on the way down to Ocean Grove, I got lost again trying to find the Griffin residence once in Ocean Grove, I got lost going from Ocean Grove to the Ambulance branch in Torquay. It was the creative placement of signs that really threw me. It's  hard to work out where to turn when the street sign you're looking for is 3m back from the road, behind a tree. Thankfully once I made every trip once, it was easy enough to work out how to get back.

Having to get up at 5.45am on Saturday and Sunday is not something I want to have to do again in a long time!

I will write in more depth about my weekend tomorrow when I've had a night's sleep in my own bed. I've only been away for a few days but I'm very happy to be home with the people and pets I love.
