A little ray of sunshine :)

Today was a medium sized day at uni. My day didn't start well when I missed the train by seconds, the doors closed as I ran through the ticket barrier. I waited for the text train and thankfully the public bus that runs from the station past the campus that comes once in a blue moon was there and thanks to that miracle I made it to uni on time.

I had 5 hours of classes in a row, no breaks. My tutor for lifespan development is great. She's a working paramedic as well as a teacher at uni. She's quite funny and full of great stories from working out on the road.

Spending an hour of a three hour lecture being told how to write an essay was not exactly the highlight of my life.

"But Eliza, you are in first year, surely you expected this?"

Why yes, I did. I would like to point out that it was in a subject that is for both first and second years and about half of the first years have done some level of tertiary education already, meaning that the chat was irrelevant for three quarters of the room. I don't have a problem explaining the assignment expectations, but an entire hour seemed excessive given that all the information given was provided to us in the unit guide. Even fresh, green, straight from school first years can be told how to write an essay in 30 mins or less...

I caught the bus from Peninsula to Clayton then public bus from Clayton to Huntingdale station then a train into the city. At Clayton I ran into a girl I hadn't seen since high school, Catherine. It was lovely to catch up and we had a great chat all the way in to the city.

I went into the city to sort out some very boring errands. After I had polished those off I purchased two violet creams and two dark peppermint creams from Haigh's and headed up to Dad's office. We had a lovely little afternoon tea of chocolates and I got to catch up with  many of my former colleagues. I really miss working there.

What really made my day today was being told the news that one of my friends is pregnant! For those of you wondering, this lovely lady is a few years older than me, married and works full time (not a 21 year old student!). I am so excited for her and I think she'll be a fantastic mum! I had a huge smile on my face on the train all the way home.
